This time of the year means holiday parties galore. Everyone is in a merry making mood what with all the lights and décor and of course the Christmas trees everywhere you look in the city.
I have a string of Christmas parties to go to and I also have a few I am hosting including the Kim Seybert team Christmas party which is always fun, especially with the Secret Santa portion.
Come Christmas Eve, I will be hosting a dinner party at my apartment in the city. I have a few friends that are staying with me and we will have a small feast.
I like to play carols when I set up the table to really get me in the spirit of the season. As I layout the Brocade Placemats with their glittering bejeweled surface I may croon to I’ll Be Home for Christmas. The beads and cabochon like crystals of the placemat peek underneath a layer of plates, edged with an abstracted ikat pattern. Our Dip Dye Napkin in Ivory & Beige, though neutral in color, still says holiday because of the metallic foiled sheen of its facing. And paired with the Mistletoe Napkin Ring with its frosted pinecones, Christmas balls and bells, what could be more joyous?
As for centerpiece, simple sprigs of winterberries looping in and out of mercury glass candlesticks give the setting a homey feel.
On Christmas Day, I am doing a breakfast for my houseguests. A small table in my kitchen by the floor to ceiling glass windows will give us a great vantage point of the city waking up to Christmas morning.
The shiny plane surface of the Chrysler Building, which you can see from my apartment, is the starting point for a setting that is gleaming with sparkly finishes. Our gold Crackle glassware and Helix flatware in gold and silver being the true highlights, dictating the use of the pearlescent Dart Placemat against classic gold rimmed china, topped off with the Marrakech Napkin in Natural, Red & Green. And for floral flourish, a mix of roses in a dusty toffee gold tint with traditional red and sprays of dried ivory daisies.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
