Recently, Paloma set a show-stopping table for Lenox Hill’s Spring Gala held in New York’s, Cipriani 42. We had a chance to sit down with her to discuss the inspiration behind the stunning look.

How did you interpret the theme “All That Glitters” and where did you find your inspiration?

When I was told the theme, I immediately thought of glittering lights and Christmas decorations. I knew that I wanted to interpret the theme in a way that felt fresh and unexpected without straying too far. I decided it would be fun to focus on bright, bold jewel tones. I started by selecting the beautiful Samarkand Ikat II fabric by Schumacher for the tablecloth and built upon that; working in gold and malachite accents to add contrast with the ruby and amethyst tones of the tablecloth and flowers.

How did you decide on the colorful palette for your tablescape?

Since I interpreted the “All That Glitters” theme as a “Jewel-Toned Fantasy”, I wanted to be sure to include several colors inspired by precious and semi-precious stones. The tablecloth features ruby and amethyst tones as does the floral arrangement with various shades of pink, red, orange, and purple. The Kim Seybert Gem Block Napkin Ring features malachite accents that were the perfect contrast to all of the pink and gold in the table, while the Faceted Flatware added a beautiful, glittering effect.

Speaking of flowers, tell us about  that show stopping centerpiece!

I worked with the very talented floral designer, Tom Borgese. I shared my vision for the table with him as well as my favorite flowers and how to incorporate them. We knew that the venue for the gala, Cipriani 42, boasts soaring ceilings, so we chose to embrace that and create an arrangement  that was tall, lush, and incredibly beautiful.
