This past weekend was too beautiful not to entertain. An impromptu outdoor dinner party with an autumnal table was the perfect prelude for the coming season.
On Saturday, I decided to create a last minute table on my deck. I’m lucky, I have plenty of beautiful tabletop to choose from in my basement, but I had two dilemmas…
1. I mainly have summer items at my house in Wainscott,Long Island, and I really wanted to create a fall table.
2. Since I had done so much entertaining this summer, my table looked a bit worse for wear. It was time to refresh!
I decided to make a run to HomeGoods to see if I could find a tablecloth that had autumnal hues and was reasonably priced. Since the umbrella in my table is fixed in place, I always need to cut a slit in the table to modify it to fit. So needless to say, it was important to choose something that was both affordable and stylish. While I was there, I happened to stumble across candles that had the perfect palette to go with the table.

Next, I used my Jaune de Chrome plates in Tortoise with our Patina Napkin in Bronze. It added just the right amount of glimmer and worked wonderfully with our Chainmail Napkin Ring in Gold, Coral and Ivory. To elevate the entire look, I layered our Laurel Chargers with our Mirror Placemats in Taupe. Our Crackle Tumblers in Amber, which we made quite a few years ago, paired perfectly with my finishing touches of baby pumpkins and autumnal hued candles.
No table is complete without flowers! I bought these bright zinnias in bunches from the farmers market and picked out the most autumnal colors, making my own fall bouquets. Simple but impactful! In fact, the entire tablescape came together seamlessly!
